Highest Payout Odds
The highest payout odds are 10.7-to-1 for the Hi on a Queen. They are also 10.7-to-1 for the Lo pick on a 2. The next highest odds are 5.3-to-1 for the Hi on a Jack and the Lo on a 3. Kings have the highest value (13) and Aces have the lowest value (1). They result in a new card being dealt with. In the live casino version of Dealer Hi-Lo, a tie counts as a losing bet.
Other bets in Dealer Hi-Lo are on the color and suit of the next card drawn. Since the standard game is only played with one 52-card deck, there is some strategy involved. Card counting comes into play to improve a player’s chances to win. Unlike Blackjack, making note of the cards that have been previously drawn is an acceptable practice.
The House Edge
The house edge is improved by discarding three burn cards before using the fourth card as the result. For example, the base card is a 10 and the result will be determined by the fourth card drawn. The result card then becomes the starting base for the next round.
Gameplay at online live casinos features a “deal” button that starts play after all initial bets have been placed. The other two gameplay buttons are “Hi” and “Lo” and they are used to make a prediction on the next card dealt verse the base card. The live version also offers a chance to pass on the current round through the use of a “Skip” button. All wagers will carry over the next round of play.
